I would just tell you that all stones are not equal. We used Belgian blocks to make a fire pit once d sad Bd half of them cracked apart. Do research! The idea of the grill top table is common. It’s a hibachi ala Beni Hana if I understand you correctly.

Google "Fire Pit table" and you will find a ton. Amazon has them and so do BBQ boys! Probably all the Big Box stores too. Good luck!

@susan_highland Those fire tables are all fairly ugly, but this one captures the essence of the idea. The key idea is to have a "table lid" so you can convert the surface to a true table. I just think you could make the table exterior look so much better by designing it yourself from the same paver design as used for the patio.

What I was hoping to find is someone who premakes "table lids" that would fit flush into a fire pit that you build from pavers.

What are you thinking an affordable price is?

@susan_haghland If I am building the paver fire pit on my own, then the tabletops to fit snug into that should definitely not cost more than about $150. If I add in a centerpiece that does the fire pit function with a separate propane tank, then maybe that goes to $250.

If you want to sit comfortably at the table, it'll need to overhang the structure, not nestle flush inside it. And doing it that way wouldn't be too hard at all.
