Glass light shades

Thanks wdccruise! But what I mean is that I already have the glass light shades - what I need is part with the screws that attaches to the glass light shades. I can put my own bulb fitting into it, I just need the part that covers the end hole on the orbs.

I recently saw (Lowes) an overhead light fixture that, to me, looked like a large lamp shade turned upside down with a light fixture on a cord in it, hung from the ceiling at an eye hook. In the display with replacement parts for lamps (beneath displayed ceiling fans, etc.,) there were replacement cords with the parts the light bulbs screw into attached, including a cord specifically for use with fixture for this (to me) unusual light. It may well be that you can find a spare part there.

ALSO, especially since this is a DIY project, if there are any Habitat for Humanity Restore Stores near you that have reopened, check there. That really will be your best bet for an inexpensive option. A lot of people donate used stuff when remodeling and you may well find a base for your globes sold separately.

Last resort: Do you like canned veggies? You may find a large can that you could use with a replacement cord by drilling a hole in the bottom and painting it and adding three screws to hold the globe to it. Measure the width of the globe at the opening -- the globe would need to slip inside the can. You will need electrical tape and might well need to add some insulation and/or pieces to create spaces between wires and can so pay attention to what a new one looks like. For safety sake, do some serious research on how to wire a light before actually doing it. Also understand that you likely will not be able to use the brighter bulbs that get hot in a DIY lamp. Safety first.

sadly, if you want a hanging light like that, what you need is what is considered the fixture. if you wanted a base for a table lamp, you could probably use any heavy ring from a hardware store, but you need the wiring and the fixture end...

I believe what you're looking for are pendant shade holders.

If I remember correctly, the size you need is based on the measurement of the base of the globe.

With the prices I'm finding for replacement parts for light fixtures, your DIY project budget will go much farther shopping at Habitat for Humanity or another thrift store where you could find a cheap lamp and use what parts from it suit your intended purposes.
