Dearest Valentine is looking better! Yay! The White Winged Dove is a pretty thing, and Catapult Sam impresses me, but my favorite (other than DV) is that pink NOID. Oh my, I would love to know the name of that one. It looks vaguely familiar. Is the edge actually white? If you ever get enough fans of that one to share, let's do a trade!

Catapult Sam looks very good with the dark color and green throat. Very pretty NOID with all those ruffles. I too have those deer coming around here. Chased one last evening that was eyeing the front rock wall garden bed.

Debra, I would love to know the noid name too. I was hoping someone on here would say, “oh, that is.....” as it looks vaguely familiar to me as well. Or at least I think it does!! I know it stopped me in my tracks when I saw it. It was a full 7 inches, 28-30 inches tall in poor soil. The edge was white changing to that cream color you see. This is in morning sun. And I will note you want some of it.

I agree with Debra, that noid is really special! I also love Total Opulence, I’m sad that’s the last bloom. Here goes.....”deer, deer, go away, stay away another day!”

Could the NOID be White Noise by Trimmer? I had that one at one time, and it was supposed to look somewhat like the NOID, but it was just cream with no pink for me. Then it died in a pot over the winter, so I didn't get to see it the next year. I had problems with that pink and another pink by Rice not having any pink coloration with heat in the high 90s. White Noise is supposed to be 30 inches tall with a 6 inch bloom.

Julia, this is the first deer I have seen in my yard. Of course they are everywhere around here and we must really be on the watch while driving-this one came from behind my house and was actually right at the edge of that bed until he saw me-I hope they stay away from your gardens!

Debra, I did look up White Noise and some of the photos do look very much like this. However, I know her buying habits and I very much doubt she bought it although it could have been a bonus plant she kept. She is no longer around to ask. Whatever it is, it is going to get some special attention now!!

The pink Noid is lovely. Of course Dearest Valentine always catches my eye and White Winged Dove is nice too. Bob saw a deer near our property the other day so I guess it's time to put out more Milorganite. It is a little hard to find in our area for some reason.

Nancy, that is curious about the Milorganite. At the end of summer last year I found it 75 per cent off at a big box store. Needless to say I purchased lots of bags!!

Heather, that was Debra’s guess as well. Not saying it is not. Many photos look like it. It is just one I am sure we will never know. Thank you for your detective work on it!

I really enjoy my daylilies, but roses were my first love. That's a beautiful yellow. Do you know the name? Is it a mini?..............I do like Catapult Sam. When a UF has stiff out stretched symmetrical petals my appreciation for it goes way up.........Pink Jeans is a pretty one and the pink Bold Symphony with those midribs looks very enticing..............Maryl

Maryl, that is a rescue rose from big box last year. I think the tag said “Yellow Blaze”-I will check tomorrow. It is not a mini-in the deer picture it is the rose in the flower bed-it has three of these branches with these great bouquets on the end. Fragrant and has been blooming since spring with flush after flush.

I really like the looks of Catapult Sam. Milorganite does not help here to deter the deer. I did read recently that it can stop chipmunks from digging in pots - I am going to try that, that is really a problem here mainly in the spring. Milorganite has not been as readily available around here for the past year or so - last year it took a while to track down. It's one of the fertilizers I use around some of my daylilies.

Nice post, Kate! Don't care for your visitor, however. I agree, Asheville White Winged Dove does remind me of EITV. Great Balls of Fire looks really good, your pink NOID is very de;icate and pretty, but Catapult Sam is really my kind of bloom. Love it!

Sorry Kate , Debra's suggestion for your noid was White Noise . I meant to ask if your noid was White Base by Stamile . Sorry about that !

Kate: There is an ARS yellow rose registered as Yellow Blaze. It was a "found" rose in 1987. It's a Floribunda AND a small climber. It's got an "Excellent" rating from those that grow it. The deer may keep it from becoming too tall as a climber though (sigh)......Also, I missed your noid last time around. It's a beaut...............Maryl

Maryl, I never even looked up that rose, can you believe that?!! It did not say climber in the tag and looked nice and “floribundy“ in its shape in the clearance section. I may have to purchase a trellis for it as these three canes have gotten taller! Here is a photo of the cluster on one of the other canes.

Of course, I like BOLD SYMPHONY, since I grow about 40 of Mr. Bennett's intros. I live the white midrib. BS clumps up rather quickly and when there are multiple blooms open, it is fantastic. Can't wait for mine to start blooming in about 4 weeks. The early and early mids are putting up scapes everywhere. I think I am about 2 weeks behind. I usually have about half a dozen blooming by the Fourth of July, and I don't think that will be the case this year. I will probably only have HAPPY RETURNS, STELLA D'ORO and STELLA IN YELLOW blooming.
