Methods to Kill a Yellow Jacket Nest in the Ground?

I have a large yellow jacket nest that has taken over an old ground squirrel hole. Is there any straightforward method to kill off the hive without taking unnecessary risks? I guess if I hang traps near the hive this will help to control the population, but it would do nothing to kill off the egg-laying females? Is there a trap where they eat poison and carry that back to the females?

wait until dark and spray liberally with wasp spray. It make take 2 tries to get them all.

@gracie01 How would spray possibly get deep into an underground hole? You need something more like a smoke bomb design, but I am not sure that exists.
