My in ground Cara Cara has had two blooms this year.

that is good here is something yu might agree with the citrus have to struggle so new geneti traits to develop

I don't think struggle has anything to do with new genetics. It does have to do with an unhealthy tree. The only way that I see ongoing very minor struggles doing anything with genetic change would be over the course of 1000s of years.

I believe it can happen faster even though we normally don't want to look at that possibility

my lemons are normal lemons my seed are just beginning

Howard to get even a small genetic result that you hope for, you need 10,000 more seedlings then your two.

I wonder about the fruit quality from late blooms like those. Any experience? My best tasting mandarins seem to be from a large flush of early spring blooms. But mine are all in pots in a cold region...so there's that.

Howard just needs for one of his 3 seedlings to be the magic seedling so that he doesn't need the next 9,997 seedlings. If in every 10,00 seedlings there is that 1 then there is a 0.03% chance that Howard has his seedling already. That is a LOT better than even the non power ball lottery.

Just curious How may of you buy lottery tickets. If Howard is successful his patent will be worth Billions, not millions as in lottery pay outs.

Prediction: You heard it here first, the three Howard seedlings will die if left outdoors in his zone, if brought indoors they will take several years with proper soil/care/lights to get to blooming age.

genes change with environmental conditions and if citrus has to struggle new mutations happen to handle those conditions even our least hard citrus has some cold tolerance but it never pushed or developed so it can greater amounts of cold

I should know in the next week or so if any of those blossoms turn into fruit. Its been in the 100's here all week.
