I agree. There are so many that some times a new one comes along and first thing comes to mind is another new name only. Synonym and nick names should be outlawed unless it's proper name is included.

They may not be the same. Some times you get the same looking results from different sources. Like the old saying "Looks like a duck, Quakes like a duck, Walks like a duck, it must be a duck?" Some times no. No way of knowing the truth when some people put their own names on plants so they sound interesting. Or they may just be ignorant on the subject and just make up a new name not even knowing anything about plants at all. I have seen so many names given to Gold Hahnii that to me looks more like growing conditions that show slight differences.

The hahnii Seibert I have shows very little variegation central stripe. Looks almost like a regular hahnii. Some new growth does show but most don't.

I know I have to re-pot or tear apart this big boy soon. Can't go any where but up. This was planted in my compost mix with Alfalfa. Watered with 'Stump Tea'. It is approaching futura size. This is the one 'Akrrm' gave me back in 2016. It had a Gold Hahnii pup for Nancy.

I have been too tired and maybe a little lazy to work on plants this year. Too much other stuff I have to do.

I wonder if your compost + fertilizer are not too rich in nitrogen. Perhaps this might be the cause of vanishing variegation?

I think the nitrogen content is below 1%. My compost is several years old and I don't fertilizer my lawn. What it is high in is microbes. It helps the roots absorb all they need in the present soil their in. I worry about the ph level. I know sans like between 6 to 7. 6.5 I think is the best. I some times add wood ash to the pile.
