Babka, this is not Hawaii. This is Baltimore.

Nicholsworth, I saw a really beautiful rainbow about a decade ago while touring the Acoma tribe's reservation in NM. They ARE pretty rare--so that's why I decided to share this one with my hostapeoples.

Well you asked, when was the last time I saw one..... that was it for me.

I guess we are very lucky to not live in a city to be able to see them more often. I recall living in the north and seeing so many northern light and took it for granted They dance so very nice too So many beauties of nature we sometimes fail to "see"

I have been lucky enough to see a number of them, but Believe it or not, I I have seen a double one from my own backyard deck!! 🌈🌈

Seen a few. One time I was driving in West Virginia with a co-worker and he said, "Jon, will you look at that. Look in the sky there's an upside down rainbow.".......and son of a gun there was one in front of us.

When I was a kid I used to see rainbows fairly often. Is it because I was more open to seeing them or where are they now? I can't remember the last time I saw one. Thanks for the pretty photos!

maybe sandy.. because when you were a kid.. you ran out to play in the rain .. and now you cant be bothered to get wet ..

i threw my kids out the door when it rained ... and 20 years later .... they still run out the door ... lol .. they knew all the warning signs...

and i was usually with them .. lol ...

a few weeks ago ... we saw a rainbow about 8 feet off the ground ... very faint.. ethereal ... very momentary ...

daughter got it on her gizmo ...

and now that i think of it.. sandy ... lol.. its because we all ran outside just as the rain was stopping ... and it was later afternoon ... proper sun angle ....

We were driving once and saw one where it touched the ground. I didn't know that was possible. No pot of gold.

A couple of years ago I was up on my deck hosing things and the spray made a great looking rainbow, so I adjusted the nozzle to get a heavy spray held it off to the side and took a video out over the garden. I got so many compliments on what a fantastic shot and what luck; all sorts of likes and hearts that I was embarrassed to explain how I posed it with the garden hose. I was a little ashamed of myself. Don't tell anyone. - Jon

Yes, Ken, we have a BEAUTIFUL courtyard; it's like a city park, with a perimeter sidewalk 1/4 mile long. That is what residents have been using for exercise, stacking circuits of the courtyard sidewalk.

Beautiful rainbows. There is something magical about them.

I have a bicycle that I rarely ride. Last year I asked my husband to get it down from where it is stored (up high in the garage). As I rode down my street, there it was, a beautiful rainbow. I wondered why I didn't bike more often.

Then maybe 20 or 25 years ago we were coming home from the cottage and there it was----a rainbow from one side of the highway to the other. I wanted to stop and take a picture, but we had no camera. There would have been a lot of memories tied into that one picture as my in-law's (who owned the cottage for 30 years) are now passed and the cottage was eventually sold.

This was a photo from Northern BC when we lived in the north, They have beautiful skies and large mosquitos. Fort St John is mile 49 on the Alaska Hwy. Thought you may enjoy this one too We made many friends there and as much as I like the time I am glad I live where the winters are warmer now

ken, that's probably right. I remember when riding my bike was so much fun that I couldn't wait for the rain to stop to get outside again. All the kids on my block had a great time being outside back then!

I saw one last year. I felt like I was in a fairy tale...

Thanks almosthooked. I've got 40 hostas and a few heucheras I dug up from my NY garden, potted in fabric grow pots, and put on 3 wire shelving units on my balcony. I added 2 barrel pots of fuschia (I love the barrel pots, too!) and a couple of window boxes following the thrill, fill, spill formula.

Looking good Esther! Also seems like the plants are liking the fabric grow bags. Probably allows more air into the media.

Speaking of Hawaii... Here's a photo taken last year on Maui. If you look closely, you can just see the second rainbow above the brighter one. By the time I got my phone out, the second one had faded.

so nice; getting more elusive these days ... they don't come out at night any more ...
