Thank you Doug. This does look great and gives me some thoughts to consider for our entrance area. I'd love to see how your ideas would look from a front view of the house. I took some better pics to try to give a full view.

Is the invitation to the garages several hundred times more powerful than the invitation to the house?

I think it's actually a handsome grey ... but it looks like a government paint job where there is basically no contrasting trim to speak of outside the shutters and some pencil-thin white around the windows.

Kelli, this is my amateur opinion and drawing.

The roof, the siding and the fascia/rain gutter are all about the same color. The fascia would be better in white. I used black because I couldn't make the white work.

The tree near the street is ready to be trimmed up.

I think the bed in front looks shallow and the shrubs seem planted too close to the house. I would deepen that bed.

I do not care for the extended part of the bed because it blocks the view of the entrance. I would reuse those plants and rework the entrance a bit.

I might plant a large shrub in front of the second part of the driveway. People should notice the house more than the driveway and this would hide a bit of it.

It is a very attractive house and I would love a three car garage.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I definitely agree that the house is in need of some contrast. I’ve disliked the monotone schematic ever since we bought it, but I’ve struggled with figuring out how to change it without redoing the siding. Maybe I will see if I can paint the vinyl fascia white. Does anyone have any thought on the garage doors being the same color? Would it look better to paint them? I also dislike the front door being hidden as a side entrance. I’m so jealous of homes with a custom front door and welcoming entrance.

I do like the idea of deepening the bed in the front. I’m also considering changing to chocolate mulch; currently we have stone. Thanks again for everyone’s suggestions.

Replacing the stone with mulch is a good idea.

You could paint the shutters a different color.

While the tree itself looks nice here, I think for a tree of that form and size, it is in a bad position, blocking too much of the house.

It would be an improvement to reorganize and simplify the foundation planting, coordinating with windows and adding some repetitive color.

With a semi-hidden entrance it would be good to make it more obvious. Painting the door and trim white would make it more visible. Substantially widening the approach walk would give a better clue as to where the entrance is, and make it look more inviting. Keeping plantings low as much as possible while still retaining overall balance for the front of the house, would help.
