Please help with bedroom final touches

last modified: 4 years ago

I am starting this new thread because my original one was having technical issues that could not be resolved . My bedroom is almost at the finish line with just a few more things I need your help on. 😊

  1. Possibly a white throw at the end of the
    bed???
  2. Right side of the dresser picture frame and
    flower votive???? Thoughts ?
  3. Table next to chair picture frame and
    flower? Thoughts ?
  4. Thoughts on anything else ??
    Thanks!

Thanks cubby for your vote! Such a hard decision.

Hi Flo:) Nice that you stopped by! I am an early bird myself :)! I am still drape searching and Molly also suggested a lined drape as well. The trim is white so you are leaning more towards some shade of a white drape than an off white. The beige white I have is not a bright white so I guess it wouldn't be too bad. I appreciate your thoughts!

Lisa any thoughts on the drapes?

Mary, the room is looking so welcoming! The three art pieces are perfect and I’m really liking the quilt set - all pillows included! Hard decision on drapes but looks like either color works. You are the best judge. Will they be pushed to the side most of the time since you have shades? If so, to test color maybe throw them up there squished together to the side in the way they would be living most of the time.

Hi Lisa ..yes the drapes will be pushed to the sides most of the time and I do need to test the colors. Thanks!

Mary I feel you on how hard it is to make some of these decisions. I still have my drape samples up in my dining room and still I am going back and forth on which one i like the best. Either of the ones you are showing will work in your space. I think I would put up the rod and hang one on each side of the window and maybe that will help to make the final decision.

Thanks cubby for your kind words. I wish there was a color option between the 2. My gut tells me to go with the ivory seems to blend well overall with the room just wish it was a little lighter and not as “ dirty “ looking. . Here are both for a color visual. Does anyone’s vote change or stay the same? Thoughts?

Did you look at any stores to see if you could find another color more to your liking? Id keep looking since you seem to be settling for something you really are not happy with?

The white is more “airy” and matches your blinds. Does that help :). Seems like with your full bedding and accessories to the feel of the room that a heavier or a bit lined would look and hang a bit better for you vs what looks like a bit sheer there?

Mary I like the ivory on the right..it blends nice with your bedding, lamp shade and throw.

I still like the brighter white one 🤷‍♀️

Mary, I like the bright white one too. I’m thinking the same as Alice - wonder if a fabric with a little more heft would better suit the feel of the room?

Yes, the room is so beautiful and full of textures. The curtains without a lining or a bit sheer seem too dainty?

    Good morning :)

Thank you everyone for your drape color votes again. I have decided to go with the ivory. I just feel the white doesn't blend in enough with my other choices. I did though order the same curtain with a light filtering lining to try as Molly, Alice, and Lisa suggested. I was also thinking maybe with the lining it might change the overall drape color a little ??? Moving on to the art! I hung some templates...thoughts on placement? Thanks!

Placement looks perfect! love the idea of lined drapery panels good call everyone!

Did you get the new drapery panels, and the pictures framed and hung? The room looks very nice. I would only use one small pillow with the shams. Maybe sit another on a chair. Or just rotate them during the seasons.

Finally got the drapes hung today! I ❤️them! The color is perfect and I like the lining …not totally dark which I like. Hopefully pictures next weekend! Thanks everyone!

The room looks nice Mary but I was thinking it was supposed to be odd number on pillows?

    mary44 thanked happyleg
  • last month

Thank you Lisa and happyleg .I do have extra pillows happyleg I was just changing it up to see if it looked better with less pillows.

  • last month

That's okay Mary and you can always put one pillow in a chair if you're going to have a chair in the corner or in front of the window I wasn't sure if you're still having a chair so I thought I'd tell you that

I hope my drapes (eventually) turn out as beautifully, Mary. Do you have any tips for hanging them?

    mary44 thanked dsimber
  • last month

Hi dsimber😊. To be honest the drapes themselves were packaged beautifully and all I did was add the hooks and rings. DH held the rod up with the one set of the drapes on one end of the rod before installing and I stood back and told him how high he then marked the wall for the bracket. These are probably the easiest nicest looking drapes I have ever hung. I wish they were in all my rooms!

The drapes look great! I think I may eventually order them for our lake house. (And the bed looks nice!)😊

Pictures are up! ❤️. What next??? I think Julie had mentioned awhile back a small round black mirror next to the window. What about the long wall across the bed.. hang anything or no???

  • last month

    ..

  • last month

Mary, the room looks so put together and welcoming. I think it is great as is. That large wall opposite the bed could be a tough one to do anything with and I don’t think it needs anything. Julie’s idea of a round mirror to the side of the window is a nice idea but not really necessary. Up to you. Does the room feel complete to you?

    mary44 thanked lisalane
  • last month

The room looks fabulous Mary. I can see why you would want something on that wall but it is so close to the bed, even art could hinder the walk way at the end of your bed. If you have room before the end of the bed, maybe a shawl, jacket rack or an extremely shallow table like hall table to be a catch for small items with a little lamp and a pretty dish?

Thanks Lisa and Alice....you are right it would be tough to do anything on that wall across from the bed.. I think I will just leave it as it is. Julie's reasoning for a mirror next to the window was for some reflection in the room which I think is a good thought. @Home Interiors with Ease what size mirror do you think? I did buy a nice foldable luggage rack a while back too for the room. The only negative I have definitely no room for a chair. The room does pretty much feel complete :)

Hi Mary how much space do you have on the wall next to window on the left? you might be able to just set a cute small round orttoman in the right corner by the window….

Hi Julie I do have enough space for a small ottoman because that's were I have been putting the luggage rack when my son visits. I would have to figure out another spot for it so that its not in the way. The area on the other side of the bed it is in the way. What size mirror do you think? That space is about 4 ft.

  • last month

Mary, is there room in the closet for the luggage rack?

    mary44 thanked lisalane

    last modified: last month

Hi Lisa...unfortunately no... closet isn't deep enough I wouldn't be able to close the doors.

  • PRO
    last month

For mirror size you really dont want anything smaller than 24” on a 4’ wall but I would look at around 30-32”

  • last month

Mary can you put the luggage rack between the nightstand and the wall (curtain side of the bed)?

  • PRO

    last modified: last month

Mary when a guest cnes to vusit the rack is used to hold luggage so you can unpack..than the rack is closed up and stored in the closet..that being said it does not need a permanent spot in the room..so keep that in mind.

mary44 thanked Home Interiors With Ease

Yes Molly I can when it’s folded up .

Good point Julie! I have plenty of room in the large drawers in the nightstands. My son will have to unpack when he stays for a long weekend that’s all! Lol
