Things are picking up here too - so exciting! I thought the season would be later than normal because of our crazy spring/winter weather, but it seems like that might not be the case.

Laura - I thought that I might be behind by a week or two, but it appears that I am on schedule. I am only concerned that the season will be shorter as bud count and branching seem to less than years past. Many of my lates seem to have thrown scapes with all of the mid season bloomers.

David, I have definitely noticed little to no branching and low bud count on the scapes of most cultivars that I've looked at here too. We've been pretty hot and dry for the past few weeks (other than one rain where we got an inch a week ago), and no rain in the forecast for the next week or more with temps in the 90s, so I'm sure that's going to impact things too - bud drop, etc.

Star of India looks pretty good for afternoon color. Mary Alice Stokes is also looking good-exciting for the season to begin!

Pure and Simple is so lovely. I have a similar to Mary Alice Stokes, and too, like the lighter edge.

Exactly the same here with the lates already all with scapes and lack of branching.

Mary Alice Stokes rreally looks good and Star of India s nice too.
