I was going for some instant gratification on a budget ;-) I have a second bed (not pictured) for overflow DLs, if necessary.

This fall I hope to add variegated thyme or oregano along e walkway border of the DL planting, just so it's not completely barren if the foliage all dies back.

It is nice to have a plan! And it looks as though you are well on your way. And Debra is correct in saying you should post next year’s results! Good luck!

Hopefully you will show your finished project. All of my beds started as lawn. To my husbands occasional regret, they keep marching out.

Here it's considered environmentally responsible to eliminate lawn ... none of us like to mow anyway, but I enjoy pruning, digging, and tending. I am looking forward to slowly eliminating all of it in the front because I love to have a garden to putter around in. We have a lawn in back and that's plenty!
