I realize how frustrating for Mantis it was/is on Houzz. It was frustrating for all of us. So, he took his ball and went elsewhere. Understandable. I hope however he will bring his ball back into our game and play with us again. His pictures and commentary are missed......Maryl

Bumping this up because I don't think Mantis saw it.

I will try to post some here. For a while, I couldn't post any pictures. The season started out great, with extra large flowers because of earlier rain. Scapes in general are somewhat shorter, but not as bad as two years ago when we tied the latest freeze on record. Now, as we are approaching peak, we have this oppressive heat. Mother Nature always has a curve ball in her basket. In terms of individual cultivars, there are always some surprises. I was astonished to see that Musical Medley shot up for some. For years here, always very short scapes, and I finally discarded it last year. The mild winter may have helped some more tender ones, but that was offset by freezes in May.

Mantis - I'm glad you checked in on this thread. I hope to see some posts from you soon. It's the dormants in my garden that have done especially well this year, and Musical Medley is among them. Maybe they liked the latest freeze we've ever had here.
