Ah you are like me, happy to take the big ones off someone's hands. This is the one I recently l acquired. this is what it looked like in the previous owner's home.

This is what it looked like in my garage after giving it a huge trim so I could get it in my car.

I ended up having to untangle the long long strands and lay them out in my driveway. Then I put a tomato cage in the center of the pot and started winding them around and attaching them using plant clips.

I took the remaining stems and gave a lot of them away and am rooting about 50 more.

If you want to untangle yours and then put it on a better support, don't be afraid. Or you could untangle them and let it be a hanging plant. It's totally up to you. But you don't have to be afraid. Even if something breaks off you can root it and plant it or share.

If you want to wait until it's done blooming, that would be fine as well. If you want to leave it the way it is, you could do that too. I tend to like them on supports.

I’m going to wait until its done blooming before I do anything but the stems don’t appear to be super long, just lots and lots of them. The tomato cage is a smart idea, on my smaller one I made a hoop out of a metal clothes hanger wrapped in twine. I think I would need something bigger than the hanger but smaller than a tomato cage

There are lots of fun ways to give it support. Or you could let it hang. I think that's beautiful too.

CasualSuéter I doubt if the previous owner told you with certainty the age of that hoya

pepe, you’re right the previous owner doesn’t really know the exact age, just that she had it for 15 years. However, there’s no way of knowing the quality of care it received before or after she received it etc.

It bloomed for me and then I untangled all the stems and put them on a trellis, so overall I feel less intimidated by its size now!

My personal opinion is that this hoya has not reached the age that the previous owner says. I can compare it to some of mine when they were 4 or 5 years old

Ohhh! I misunderstood, My apologies. That’s totally possible. The exact age wasn’t an important factor for me anyway. It was the size more than anything
