I just got a small rooted plant a few weeks ago so I'm not completely confident on the care for this plant, but I've read that it likes to dry out a bit and does not need to be directly in a window (indirect bright light should be sufficient).

I saw a picture of one that someone in the Netherlands had grown that was at least 5 feet from a window and it was growing prolifically, but the room was very bright.

Hopefully someone who has been growing this longer can verify/correct me.

Seems like I have seen the same thing as sd2102. Unlike most hoyas, linearis seems to like to be away from windows. I have seen some excellent information about it on Youtube. Check out Planterina or Summer Rayne Oakes channels. They are both excellent, reliable resources. But there are a lot of others too. Come back and let us know!

I don't have linearis. I have retusa which is another "oddball" of a hoya.

I have a retusa as well which I am growing differently than linearis. It also mainly gets indirect bright light, but I keep it on the damp side and it's in an area of my house that stays quite cold in the winter. I read that it needs cool nighttime temperatures to bloom- it flowered this spring.

I decided to put mine outside. I near the ocean in the Bay Area and summer temperatures are 50s at night, 70s during the day. It's getting a few hours of sun in late afternoon. I read that it is native to Sikkim in the Himalayas. I have other Himalayan plants that love my climate here, so we will see.

I'd love to get more detailed information about it's native range but it's hard to find with just googling and I'm not sure where else to look.
