I purchased a calamondin orange/kalamansi tree 4 months ago. It had some odd, asymmetrical mottling its leaves. I have been monitoring it for pests (no signs, even with a magnifying lens) and keeping the leaves clean and dry. I have fertilized with Jack's Citrus Feed as directed. It is in a well-draining container with a gritty potting mix. I water it deeply and infrequently, about once a week or twice a week in hot weather. It receives sunlight in a large southern-facing window. I also have a makrut lime tree that I received at the same time, and it is doing well under the same conditions. However, the kalamansi has now started to drop leaves rapidly. This tree does come from a citrus greening quarantined area, but from a company that is supposed to inspect each tree before shipping. Another thing I noticed when I repotted is that there is a thick girdling root that is spiraling downward about 5 inches. I am not sure what else to do. Does anyone recognize these symptoms? Or could this all be because of the root girdling? Thanks for your time and feedback in advance.
