On my screen it looks like the white used for the whitewash is too cool, now the brick looks like an icy pink, and the mantle is a warm white and the floor is also a warm color. I have no idea if whitewash can be removed, but if not, I’d probably just paint the brick white like the mantle.

I agree with skmom; the brick would look very nice painted to match the mantle and built-ins.
