Runners on the floor. Artwork on the walls. And perhaps a small table in the corner in front with a mirror over it. What is that little arched alcove?

It is the entrance to the "wine cellar" . There is a wrought iron "gate" /door on it! How many runners? What color or style? Or one long one? How much of the hallway would you cover? I thought a table & mirror would work also. (any pictures you could suggest?) Wood table? Or painted? Color? Thank you so much!

Well, standard runners generally come in 2.5' x 9' sizes. But you could have one cut to size from broadloom carpet and have the edges bound so it goes the full length of the hallway. If the walls are staying the same color, I'd go for reds or greens. If there's an iron gate, it sounds like this is a Spanish or Italian style house. Stick to more traditional patterns.

No, not Spanish...just gives it the "wine cellar" look! He doesn't want to paint right now. Thought it might be best to live in it a while before deciding what colors to change? I saw some that were 20" long 2' wide in a Blue (that is the color of choice ) so that might work?
