OLLD 8/6

Morning ladies..... been up since 3 AM.........one of those nights.

Olldcan, I'm back on the cane again and have actually popped 2 Vicodin in the past 4 days..........haven't done a thing activity wise since last Friday, just been taking it easy and I'm getting really antsy, but the continual pain is back and after about 30 minutes of walking on it, even with the cane, it's throbbing and I'm done for............this just plain sucks.

Have never understood the fascination with Ice Hockey.........boring as all get out.........back and forth, back and forth, then a fight......might as well watch Frizzbee Golf or Nascar races...............I've always thought it would be funny to hang a sign at Daytona that said "Right turn only" inside the track wall or "slow speed zone ahead" and watch the reactions on the drivers' faces. Just makes no sense at all..........drive like a bat outta hell, make 4 left turns and end up right back where you started. Some one hand me a beer.

Hahaha, I can only imagine. The seriousness of it all. Hmmmmm, yes, yes, let me see, ah, yes. Black belt of course, brown shoes? Oh no sorry, could you repeat that? Oh yes, yes, black shoes. Let me write that down.

I would definitely stay on far side of house with a tea towel stuffed in my mouth. :)
    A spreadsheet? That's organized. Wow.

Are you ok about tomorrow Robin?
Nope. What I have to say is likely going to make the next few shifts rather uncomfortable, and if I have a reasonably good read on my partner, I'm going to be somewhat unpopular after all the dust settles.
No prob. mforr...that's what friends r for..plus I do like your taste/and the art!!
That stinks robin, but you have to do what you have to do. If you feel something strongly enough to act, there's probably good reason. :)
The artwork is really pretty isn't it? Love that delicate style and the colors are very beautiful.
Hope only unpopular with partner and no one else on squad.
Robin..sorry, hope it goes well! Try not to stress too much.
mforr...yes..it is fitting for the room/soothing palette Angela is seeking, IMO.
Think so too. We will find out what she thinks on Friday, when she is let out of the whirlwind of exams and gets fiesty on us.

mforr, haha My husband asked me if I was feeling lazy today. I didn't want to get like I was the other day, when I couldn't even stand myself. Guess all that logging has caught up with me. Have a good sleep, catcha tomorrow.

    What will be will be.

    Deep breaths...
Night all sorry I've missed the end but Robin I will be thinking of you tomorrow. Try to say your piece with respect to the "team" and the best interests of the "team", goes over better and is harder to argue with. Wish I could be there to help you, I have done a lot of mediation and it all comes down to using the right words and the right body language. Pick up on his body language too and try to open his mind to really listening to what you have to say. Try not to make outright accusations, express things in terms of your feelings or perceptions so he has to listen with an open mind.

Tried to post a photo before but it didn't take. I will put it on tomorrow's thread.

DD has gone home and BH is now working on his spreadsheet. Honestly a teatowel in my mouth would not have been enough - lucky the loo was handy or I would have needed a few changes of underwear. DD felt it too, every so often she would excuse herself on the grounds she needed to ask me something and then would walk in and just double over laughing.

He had to go over absolutely every possible itinerary -
will these clothes be ok for the gym
can I wear them home if we go directly home
should I wear this home from the gym if we go to the shops
what should I wear to the shops with DD
what should I wear to the shops if I go on my own.
what will I wear for casual drinks at the beer garden
what will I do if they then decide to go to a fancy restaurant
what clothes to wear to restaurant a...........b...........c.

Then everything had to be broken down
Something funny here, cut my message.

everything was broken down as to whether they were walking to where ever they were going, driving or taking a taxi and whether it was warm or cold.

How can anyone live for 73 years and still not know how to dress themself????

Roo! I'm laughing out loud, literally! Hilarious! I wish I could've been a fly on the wall for all of that!

Robin -- hope it goes well. Whatever it is sounds difficult and it's hard sometimes to be honest about things that need to be said, but you have to do what you have to do. Good luck!

Michele -- I just got home and haven't seen it. I'll go look. ETA: No, i don't think she meant anything bad by that, maybe Asian art isn't her taste? I dunno...
Mr Ironwood -- I see you floating around tonight.... I posted some fonts for you in 8/4 in case you haven't seen them. Hope that was kind of what you were thinking of.

Honestly, kd, I wish I could have recorded it all. There was another time he went into a panic, what if Gdd didn't approve of the clothes he was taking - Gdd is the queen of fashion, her wardrobe has to be seen to be believed. You could hear the exasperation in DD's voice when she told him to toss them in the bin and have Gdd take him shopping.

Of course he knows better than to ask me anything, he cops it straight between the eyes. He was going to DD's one time and asked me if he could wear a pair of brown and blue check shorts with a green and red striped top. I just rolled my eyes and said 'why not'. He actually did, got to DDs and copped it big time. Had to go an buy himself a new top she refused to be seen with him.

I love your stories... how long have you been married? I guess in a way... it's good, even though it drives you nuts, that he cares about how he looks, even if he has no clue how to achieve it!

Off to bed with me... day 5 of golf and I am bushed. Played a lot better tonight, swinging much better and even one of my friends commented on the difference in my swing tonight. I guess the lessons are paying off, now if I could just bring my scores down again. They aerated the greens yesterday and putting was like PLINKO (from The Price is Right), just can't keep putts on line no matter what you do.

Have a great day Ms. Roo... and sweet dreams to everyone else. xo

Have to see the funny side to things kd, or I would be in a nuthouse. I try not to keep count but it is 49 years now .......... like they say more than you get for murder. I really blame all his problems on his mother, she never let any of her brood grow up, the boys were totally pampered to and never had to lift a finger. She bought all their clothes for them without involving them at all right up to the day BH and I were married.

When DD was here today shaking her head about him told her to beware of being an over protective mother and allow Gsons to be involved in their clothes. She roared laughing, the 16 year old is fanatical about clothes and is so vain he constantly checks out his reflection in your glasses when he talks to you. We were wondering though about childhood influences, he has an absolute thing for red shoes and when they went back through old photos red shoes kept appearing right back to his very first walking shoes when I bought him a pair of red suede boots. All my fault. They were a really great buy, really good quality imported Italian leather reduced from $140 down to $25. Who would pay $140 for a pair of baby shoes 16 years ago.
Good one studio - these were suede boots, not just Mary Janes.
    Last I heard, just busy.
too funny Roo. maybe a subscription to GQ would help hubby!
Yes, OLLD GQ, I can see it now. Designing women and lads, preparing seasonal spreadsheets for the BH's of the world, without a clue how to dress. Maybe we've stumbled onto a money making niche? ;)
ok but i get to choose the models . and the covers. hmmm OLLD GQ cover guys, they have to be attractive, smart and fun or at least interesting to be around: tom selleck for the tall full figure, clint eastwood for the slighter build, jimmy cahn for the shorter muscle guy, jimmy buffet for the beach look. this could be fun!
    Very, Mo!!
    Started 8/7:)
    Mo, where is your head??

    Attractive........maybe
    Fun.................good jokes always are
Interesting .....maybe in a peculiar sort of way
Smart ............????????????????????????? They can't dress themselves!!!!!
I would tend to go with a grey paint, perhaps something like BM Revere Pewter. It would like nice with the marble counters you described. Good luck and post some photos if you have a chance.
zehhome - are you on the right thread here?

I might add Revere Pewter is banned from our discussions :))
Roo-you better tell her, she is new so she needs to be school.
    What do you mean?
No, meant that as a joke. Being school is a way of saying teach her the rules.
LOL, Revere Pewter always ruffles OLLDs feathers! Most of us think it should be banned from production and the formula lost forever... :)
Oops, my apologies, posted to a wrong discussion thread.
You are forgiven zenhome. If you are having any problems using this site, we are happy to help you.

Angela, I do have language problems despite the fact we both speak English, which is really ridiculous. Sometimes I need translations.
Roo-I am sorry, guess I assume that you have picked up on some of my crazy lingo that I speak.
Ms Roo -- sometimes there are strange North American sayings that I don't understand either, especially as I get older. Urban Dictionary has been my friend more times than I care to admit!

Zenhome -- no worries, we figured it was on the wrong thread. Forgive us, we love to joke about 'that paint color..." lol
  • 12 years ago
I know that I do not make it any easy either.
Angela, it must be your Jamaican accent... lol :))
I agree Kimdee, English is hard for me too, no matter how long I have been in the US.
Angela - I can hear you singing it, it is so relaxing.

One of our TV channels did a rerun the other night of the old movie "Cool Runnings" about the Jamaican Olympic Bobsled Team. Love the movie but I think the accents do it for me more than anything.
That is an awesome movie and I am happy to say that. I loved it and that could be because I love John Candy
  • 12 years ago
He certainly made it - the one liners cracked me up. I still hear new things when I watch it that I have previously missed.
No olldroo I don't need any help using this site, thank you very much!!!!
