Kitchen upgrade

I have red cherry cabinets and black/gold granite(I DID NOT PICK THIS! lol Basically I like every other medium to dark wood cabinets but of course I got stuck with cherry. I cannot change this whole kitchen so what color floor will go with this. I really would like wood grained porcelain. Also thinking of possibly getting them painted white/Slightly off white...help any ideas?

It is pretty dark - that is one reason I kind of like the light tile floor, but I would try lightening up with a different backsplash - take all parts of the existing one off entirely and do a lighter tile from the countertop up to the bottom of the cabinets. I would not paint cherry cabinets, but that is your call to make. If you like a wood look, maybe find one that looks like a lighter color of cherry with some variations on it to match what you have. That's a lot of granite to replace if you choose to go that route!

    Maybe something like this one.

Definitely doing the backsplash. I wanted to change the floors because I have 3 areas connected living Room has hardwood hallway to the bedrooms has carpet and then there's that tile in the kitchen and hallway going to the front door so I don't like to 3 different finishes for the floor. What is the floor you are showing.in the picture

    That does look good.

I would like it all to be one floor.

Both painting cabinets white and porcelain wood look planks with majorly update the kitchen and give it a fresh facelift!

I know..I agree..some people are horrified that I want to paint the cabinets(which includes my husband🤷‍♂️😂)...it is all just so dark!

Not sure - it's a Houzz photo, but there were no tags of brands on it! Sorry!

the cabinets aren't real cherry, so paint away! (and they also look to be a entry level type of cabinet, so not really a crime to paint these.) Decide if you're going to do this first.

countertops? at the very least I'd remove that 4" piece up the back and replace the backsplash. if you paint the cabs, leave the granite and get a new splash, it will make a huge diff. I wouldn't do an off-white. just a nice neutral white would be fine

as for the flooring, you're taking out the carpet and the wood? and you want to do a wood-look tile? why not just do all hardwood?

do you use that 'granite table' ? what if you made it into an island w/an overhang? the granite can be recut and possible set on top of an island cabinets. Or, if you plan to paint, just get an island installed and have a piece of quartz put on it. it's fine to have two-tone countertops.

there are a thousand wood grain tiles. what you DONT want is something like this

these are shorter planks with repetitive patterns. very busy.

you want something that has very thin grout lines and looks like wood. (or, just stick w/real wood)

engineered french oak. this works w/everything

They are real cherry and not at all entry level.

kathy, I didn't mean entry level as in cheap fiberboard. I meant the finish of the cabs. The finish looks like a 'cherry color' stain, not real cherry wood. That's why I said if you wanted to paint them, it would be fine. Real cherry wood with just a natural finish, would be a diff issue. I don't see your cabinets as being that.

how do you know they're real cherry if you didn't buy them?

can you take a close up fo the wood? lets see the inside of the cabinet

these are real cherry and don't look like the ones in your pictures. (but feel free to post a better picture that shows a closer shot. maybe they are)

    These are a cherry stain.

(out of everything I posted, that's all you keyed in on??)
