Living Room Layout

Hi everybody. My next design dilema has to do with my living room layout. As you will see in the picture below (please ignore random clutter and furniture), it is a rectangular space. the space runs into the dining room, separated by a wide arched entryway. There is the big bay window that takes up the entire front end of the room. The fireplace is behind the boxes and is centered to that wall. The entrance to the room from the front hallway is across from the baby grand. I am struggling with furniture layout for two reasons. One is the piano placement. It is staying in that spot, it looks beautiful there. But it protrudes enough that if we centered a sofa to the fireplace, somebody would be basically on top of the piano if sitting on that end of the sofa. But even if we said "oh well", we actually can't center a sofa to the fireplace because two feet in from the doorway, on that wall close to the floor is a central air vent that we can't block. So in keeping the air vent clear, that means that the end of a sofa would align with the end of the fireplace. And I can't wrap my head around an off-center sofa across from a fireplace. Is this just my hangup? How can I layout this space? i envisioned a sofa and coffee table centered to the fireplace, in that huge box is a massive antique mirror that was going to go above the sofa. And then a chair and ottomon was going to go in the space between the fireplace and archway to the dining room. I envisioned the room flowing into the dining room, not being obstruced by something cutting the flow of those two rooms in half. Also to note - there will be no TV in this room. Can I lay this out with no sofa? I have read the articles and am on the fence, not because I am opposed to the no sofa idea, but because I don't necessarily like the suggested alternatives. Any thoughts? Suggested layouts? Non-Sofa-Solutions that don't involve a daybed, hammock, or the necessity of a square living space?
