Yes, it is. They may be a named variety, from early days of Daylily breeding, but they act just like ditch lilies - taking over the bed, growing right over the expensive ones. Keep an eye on it.

Specifically, the double flowered form is known as Hemerocallis fulva var. kwanzo, sometimes still found for sale as Hemerocallis 'Kwanzo'

There are actually 3 of this orange variety of species daylilies. 1.) H. Fulva Europa ( single layer of petals ) typicallly called "Ditch Lily " , H. Fulva Kwanso ( double layer of petals ) and 3.) Fulva Kwanso flore pleno ( 3 layers of petals )

And all three are notorious growers.

I weed these out of my beds every year but I think two of them come back for every one that I get rid of--beautiful but a real pest.

As with any stoloniferous plant , daylily or otherwise , if you dont get ALL the root out it will regenerate. so in my experience a plant can pop up 2 feet away from the mother plant because of the runner roots.
