A friend has this rose in her yard, which she thinks her mother planted probably in the 1990s. They live in Berkeley, and it was likely bought at one of the local nurseries such as Berkeley Hort. I've not seen it, but she has sent me some photos. It has been blooming steadily since @April, she says, and it is very fragrant. It has prickles -- red ones in the photo. She recently cut it way way back, and I'm not sure how large it would be normally. The full-plant photos are from before she cut it back. Any thoughts? Uneducated guess, I'm thinking maybe it's an Austin rose, as I assume some of them have been available at Berkeley nurseries for a few decades. Any ideas? Thank you!
