Do you have any desire to keep it?...if so ....a picture of the whole surrounding area ...(without the chairs..)...may suggest changes that can make it fit...

A table for 4 can be needed even in an apartment. If you have a larger group for dinner, you could move furniture and extend the table into the living room.

I would keep it until you move, and then see how it fits into the space. If you have already moved, can we see more pics of the space so we can better evaluate how it fits?

Hi. It depends on several factors

1) Do you like the table?

2) Does the table fit in with your new decor scheme?

3) Will the table fit in your new place? 80 x 40 without the leaves is still quite large for most smaller places.

Finally, just looking at the table, I would say the legs are not ideal. A pedestal or parsons table is preferable so that people's legs are not jamming into the table legs. See how you can't tuck the chairs all the way in because of the table legs?

Without more information, I would say it is a "sell".

As far as how to sell it, first, know that in all liklihood, you will get only a fraction of what you paid for it. Furniture quickly depreciates the minute you buy it. I would check out several options. One would be a consignment store. Another is Craig's list. Facebook also has a selling feature.

This style of furniture maintains popularity because it is clean, sleek, simple style and is highly popular in areas like NYC because it works nicely in small spaces. Keep it until you move in. After you move in decide if you love it in your space. Chairs for a MCM Teak table are abundant. Craigslist, Etsy, Ebay, Cherish and still sold new at stores like Dane Decor.

Okay, Thanks. Even if you have no chairs on the ends, just sides, the minimum space you would need for the 40 x 80 table would be 13 feet x 10 feet., just for the dining room and that is without placing a buffet or other piece in there.

I have no idea if this is a treasure or just a table with teak veneer so if solid teak I would try to see if it fits with smaller scaled chairs maybe just 4 and a couple of folding ones for bigger parties or if solid teak maybe a wood worker could make it smaller , IMO solid teak is worth keeping but veneered i would sell . Once you have the floor plan post it here make sure it is to scale and also pics of your other furniture .

The decision to keep or sell has to be balanced between the amount of joy the piece brings to you and the joy that the dollars it would sell for could bring you.

I own an MCM bentwood gondola sofa - I love, love, love the look of my sofa. I've owned it for 30 years. When I sold my last home I had more offers through zillow for the sofa than for my house. I am having a tough time parting with it, but at this point it doesn't work in my house and it is low (17" seat height) making it difficult to get in and out of. At one time I would not have considered selling. At this point in my life it is no longer bringing me the joy it once brought. It is time for this piece to bring joy to someone else's home.
