It looks like an onion or something in that family.

It is not a Bottle Palm or any kind palm. It looks like a Tradescantia/Spiderwort of some sort to me. I've never seen one with a bulb like that. The Florida tropics could have some interesting members in that group.

Definitely not onion, but foliage reminds me of an orchid - a flowering bulb of some sort? Looks like it might be making a bloom too.

Try posting at the Name That Plant forum. Smart folks there might be able to I.D. it for you. Make sure to give your location too.

Both Tradescantia and Orchid crossed my mind but I’m not familiar with any that match. The offshoots give an impression of something which will spread fairly quickly. Can you post again when the flower buds open? That would be really helpful.

btw the plant behind is Schefflera arboricola, not simply arboricola.

Seeing as I'm an orchid grower I wish the plant had not been destroyed before it was offered to an orchidist.
