Hairy Balls Milkweed (Gomphocarus physocarpus)

last modified: 6 years ago

Curious as to whether monarchs use Hairy Balls Milkweed (Gomphocarus physocarpus) as a host plant in your garden.
I live in SW Florida and planted 2 nice ones a couple of months ago to supplement my tropical milkweed which gets raggedy and sparse in the extreme summer heat and humidity here.
The Hairy Balls are very lush and over 7 foot tall but don't seem to get much attention from the monarchs.
Any suggestions for other milkweeds that can handle our summer?
