Branch Clusters on Nagami

last modified: 6 years ago

Hello,

So question/discussion of the day, my nagami kumquat has grown a few of these, for lack of a better term, branch clusters. Basically from the nodes at the end of one branch about 5 branches have emerged in a rather small area. Because they're coming from one or two nodes they're tightly clustered at that point. Having trouble getting a good photo as it's been too bright for my camera so I can't quite get the angle right. The cluster is very tight. On to the question/discussion: Better to thin branch clusters like this to one or two branches or leave them alone and let them grow out. The concern is that by trimming growth will be induced in the nodes thereby making the cluster worse.

Thoughts?
