July Buds and Blooms

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all doing well. I finally have some buds to share! My Hoya carnosa "Spotted Leaf" (not sure of the actual variety-possibly cv. Snowball?? :D) is going to bloom for the very first time! She budded up a few months ago, but those buds blasted. Anyway, here she is!

My mystery Phalenopsis orchid turns out to be white! :D This is my first time with an orchid, so I'm really happy that I've been this successful with one! That's pubicalyx "Pink Silver" in the front. The orchid has another flower spike, as well.

Further to report, pubicalyx "Red Buttons" produced a new peduncle. The buds on my motoskei blasted :(, but she's doing great otherwise. I am expecting my new cv. Sunrise in the mail today (Etsy's been wonderful in finding Hoyas there). As for me, I've just been working a lot (often being the only server for hours at a time, which can be a little hectic, but since we're only opening at 50% fire seating capacity, it's not too bad). The tips the past two days were wonderful. I go in and close tonight (4-10:15). Wish you all could stop by for a bite and a chance to chat.

So great to see a happy update from you Brad! Your buds look good. And I must say, the leaves are so very close together on your pink silver! I'm a bit jealous. :-)

Etsy has been pretty good to me too.

If you get a chance, you should also check out unsolicitedplanttalks.com. I bought a dekeyae there recently and it is so sweet. It's put out two new leaves since I've had it and they are just the cutest little things!

Oh and your orchid success is enviable too.

I wish we could all sit around and talk about hoyas too!

PS hasn't grown too much at all compared to RB and RHP. One day, I shall get one to bloom for me. RHP is NUTS right now. So lush and happy :).

I'm checking out their site right now. Gorgeous!!! They have some good prices too!!!

I just hope I can keep that orchid alive. They haven't quite gripped me the way Hoyas have, but gosh, they are pretty :).

Missing people like crazy. The special ones in my life, anyway. Customers, not so much, lol. Been working a hell of a lot lately. Getting pretty tired of it. I hope something gives soon in that way life could change for the better.

Hello from Spain. First of all, congratulations and tell you that I love the lemon green color of the leaves of your hoyas. An unequivocal sign that they have received and continue to receive sun rays. I always say that the sunrise sun is your best vitamin. I leave you a link to my blog in case you want to make any questions.

Here she is in the daylight. Flowers are more white/cream than pink. No further peduncles have developed on her, yet, but she's really growing! Might have to give her more tomato fertilizer.

    Hi Brad,

Congratulations on your blooms, so pretty. I'm not familiar w/ H carnosa spotted leaf.

Am glad this Hoya & the Orchid are rewarding you w/ blooms for your good care & especially for having work to go to & working so long & hard.

Been wanting to touch base for a while but life's gotten in the way big time.

Check out my thread "Long Inactive Hoyas Woke Up" to see the H micrantha you gave me. It's the last survivor of trio of cuttings you shared (I forgot which other 2), but it's finally awakened. It's a nice leaf shape, I'm excited to see what it'll grow into.

Hope to drop you a line one of these days. So glad to hear you sounding upbeat.

    Stay well.
