Idk about need for the leading edge trim [sorry], but bit of texture instead.... idk cause haven't seen windows. yiokes..

If you are looking for black out draperies, pinch pleated, check out Pottery Barn Teen’s website. I found excellent quality pinch pleated blackouts there for a resort beach rental property. They can be trimmed out, as Flo suggests,using JoAnne Fabric trims and iron on tape if you are not a person who sews. You are headed in the right direction! Consider beautiful white bedding with rich green accent stitching. Large prints, like your duvet (beautiful!) need to be balanced with smaller prints, stripes, etc. I suggest that you find a beautiful art print for above your bed next. Something like Flo suggests, and then pull one accent color from it for enhancing the beauty of the room you are creating! This has been a fun process to watch! Good luck!

@ptreckel, I love PBblackout curtains. I have them in my son’s room. The issue is that I need 12-14 panels and so my budget is < $30/ panel.

Claire-can you post the measurements of each window please. That budget is extremely challenging and not sure if it is worth spending even that because what you will have will be such low quality you will be replacing in a fairly short period of time. Might be better to wait til you can afford a bit of quality. Start with simple wovens and add drapery panels when budget permits.

I can measure the windows next time I’m home. Wouldn’t woven shades be more expensive? I priced out one 31 x 49” simple woven shade on select blinds during a sale and it was over $100 (and not blackout).

I agree. Woven shades for now. White bedding. Shams that pull some of the green from Duvet cover (maybe just on the visible edges). An animal print accent pillow would be nice (leopard or zebra- something with black in it)

Claire-window treatments cost much more than people realize. The more “features” like blockout, the higher the price. I usually budget $400-600 per standard size window not including rod and hardware. So $60 for two panels on narrow windows will mean rod pocket panels is what you can do. Not too pretty.

I'm just a regular person giving my own experience, but I love my IKEA curtains and they were way less expensive than woven shades, which I finally just ordered 2 years later.

They were really easy to hem as well. They aren't black out but I don't think those would be any more difficult.

I set up kind of an assembly line where I cut them all to a premeasured length marked on a big table, folded & ironed the hem allowance, then sewed a straight line across the hem.

IKEA has returns for 1-year, so maybe just buy a few and see?

Flo, you know I love you and all, but there are people out here who want their space to look nice but also at a reasonable price. And no offense to you or anyone who can afford it, but $400-600 for drapes PER window is privileged. That's not a negative thing, just know and acknowledge it is what it is.

Flo, I suspect your typical client is a lot more high end than I am! Even if we save, I can’t envision a scenario in which my husband is okay with me spending the equivalent of our mortgage on window treatments.

I work at all budget levels Claire, but just trying to help you get to a realistic overall situation. I didn't mean to offend. The Ikea panels, as Pool suggested and others, might be your best bet at this point. Give it a try. Nothing to loose. Just do neutral color.
