Peninsula design question

Ok peeps,

starting kitchen Reno #8. this will be my first peninsula. We just decided to bump my sink wall out by 27 inches, which means my original plan for the range wall has changed. before, I had a true G-shaped plan with the range centered on the bottom of the G. Now I have an L-shaped range wall. So my question is, do I center the range from the outside or inside the peninsula?

I would do the second (centered on the outside) b/c it gives you more workspace where it's needed most -- between the sink and range.

Is this a flip or is this for you?

A to-scale measured and labeled drawing on graph paper will allow us to be more helpful. Include windows, doors, openings, location of plumbing if already in, and identify adjacent spaces.

Buehl-it’s for me. I’m also leaning that way, mostly because when you enter the house and move toward the kitchen, the first wall you will see will be the range wall, but the peninsula will be blocking part of the view into the kitchen

. It seems to me you will notice the hood being off center on the wall much more than you would the Range being off center on the cabinet run.

Wait a minute, @vsalzmann! I don't like the sound of this... Where are you going to put that beautiful island of yours?!

Lol. It’s currently being used as a credenza underneath my giant tv. Looks pretty good there too!

Felizlady- this will be my 8th kitchen remodel, planned down to the quarter-inch, but I have never done the kind of scaled drawing you discussed. Lol. I’m more of a “I’ll know it when I see it” kind of gal. I also use Ikea cabinets and semi handmade doors, and do all of the woodwork with my husband. So we just modify anything that doesn’t work for us.

So I need an actual to scale plan to even begin to comment. and really kitchen design done by yhe seat of your pants would never work for me so if this is your 8th kitchen what are you even asking what to do. IMo you need to figure out how the cabinets will fit with the range and I like drwers on either side of my range and at least 30” wide so I have no clue about wall sizes so can’t help.

Patricia, my question is less “what is the best cabinet configuration to meet traditional rules of kitchen design” and more “which would bother you more visually- uncentered upper wall, or uncentered lower cabinets?”

    Here’s the whole kitchen, btw.
