Flooring ideas for concrete with high Moisture?

I have a garage that seems to have a pretty high level of moisture building up underneath the Nance peel and stick carpet tiles that were installed. I realized this after spending ages hunting an odor issue. Eventually lifting up several of these (3-4 months old) carpet tiles I found icky goo and water under them.

if anyone has experienced this what are some options that could actually allow the concrete to breath? construction isn’t an option as it’s a rental and I’d love to not have bare concrete as it’s gross and being used as a little home office set up.

Wall to wall carpet (edge tacked). Use a carpet underpad that is NOT water proof! Your land lord should be doing this FOR YOU! Don't let this one slide. The landlord rented you a 'bonus room' that is toxic and not done properly or up to code (I'm pretty sure). Push hard for a decent carpet that is NOT glued! That is your only option.

I absolutely agree! I actually am just looking for ideas so I can propose the solution (they probably won’t know what to do). Would interlocking tiles allow for the concrete to breathe and the moisture evaporate?

No, carpet is really the only option without spending a crap ton of money and even then........................

Probably not since they are usually plastic.

As krissie states, the interlocking tiles will be the same disaster as the carpet tiles....just in a different way. The weave in the carpet is what makes it breath. Think of carpet as a loose-knit sweater. Interlocking tiles are more like man-made pleather.

What about pleather tiles?! Hahah

hmmm what if it wasnt a carpeted type flooring but the mesh rubber type flooring? Obviously not nice in the same way but provides some cushion and keeps you off the concrete?

No as that will also seal in the moisture causing the same issues. Carpet is it.

You have the option of:

Carpet (with or without breathable underpad); or

Concrete.
