Hahnii ID Australia

A local big box store here in Australia is selling two kinds of hahnii that are labelled as golden hahnii. One is what I would call the normal golden hahnii and is much more yellow than the second kind. I've attached a photo of the second kind (much greener) and was wondering if these are both golden hahnii or is the greener one something else (Lucille polan or something similar)?

I think all plant addicts always check out the plant section of all stores we go to. Like last year I spied a plant nursery in Ohio while vacationing. That's where I purchased those big pots full of Gold Hahnii and one with a Solid Gold pup for under $5 each. That doesn't happen very often. Or the time in Lowes clearance rack which had pots full of Bantal's Sensation for $4 each from $22 each. I purchased all 4 they had and each pot had 5 to 6 plants each. Same Lowes I purchased some small futura Black Gold which had some extra yellow stripes down the center which turned out to be Gold Flame's. Never know what you might find.

I might add that I shared those fines with the good people here and they gave me much more in plants back.

I joined this forum due to the love of Sansevieria and learned so much over the years from so many who no longer post here but some experts still do and is very helpful. They don't consider themselves as experts but they are.

Oh, forgot to add other question; Yes I have a very large collection of Sansevieria, Agave, Haworthia, Aloes, Some Jades, Euphorbia, Asclepiads and some cactus. Not to add my wife's weeds that she likes. Come fall it is a mad house bringing in all the plants and filling up every window space available. Plus the shelves in the cellar with the LED lights. I'm getting too old and weak and must consider thinning out the heard. Very hard to do.

Nice finds! The greener one is hahni marginated, I believe. A yellow border on the leaf edges of a hahni. Much easier to grow than golden hahni also.

Thanks for the reply. I'm used to seeing hahnii marginated looking like the plant below. I guess there are different forms which can look very different when seen in person. More to collect I guess :0) Love this forum and only wish it was more active like in the good old days. I guess FB has a lot to answer for that. I've been through all the post on here a few times and am still finding some new info.

Hello Neil and welcome.

We may be small but we're the best. I hate FB.

There are many slight difference in Gold Hahnii and so they (whoever) adds new names all the time. I have a more yellow one and more greener ones and it time they do grow the same. I also started to get some Solid Gold from the Gold Hahnii. Started as pups and stays stable.

Thank for the reply Stush. From past posts I see you were one of the most active members and had some plants to die for. Do you still have a large collection and still check out the big box store for the occasional gems? Those solid gold plants look amazing.

I managed to get a better photo of one of these plants and they do indeed have a thin green margin on the very outer edge of the leaf. Maybe they aren't a straight forward hahnii marginated? Glad you still have lots of plants Stush and are still on the look out for oddities.

Good point Neil. Not a regular Hahnii marginata but a little different. Not like a Golden Hahnii but something in-between. Good find. I am always looking for some thing different all the time. The inner green is much different as well with those lighter green serrations. Would love to see it when it gets a few years older. I bet those yellow edges will increase thru out the leaf.

Something like Golden Hahnii, but with a green margin to the leaves and a whitish overlay in the leaf centres - that should be a cultivar called 'Lucille Polan'. Not that I am 100 % sure :)
