See if there's record store in your area that's buying. We have several in my area that advertise that they buy records. I've gotten rid of some of mine that way.

Alternately, you can go on ebay and see what's selling and for how much, and set up your own ebay shop. That's quite a bit more work.

Thank you for your reply. My kids live In Austin, and I go there often. There are more record shops there than in my city. I’m sure lots of them buy records. Maybe I’ll call some of the shops and inquire. Is an auction a reasonable option?

Unless they are in perfect condition and relatively rare, they are worth very little. Been there.....

I too am actually there. I have over 2,000 and basically the prices are very low. Was quoted $12 for a box of 50.

If you're serious about selling, do an written inventory -- artist, album name. Handwritten or spreadsheet, doesn't matter. Tedious, but no one wants boxes of albums they know won't sell.

Then identify a record shop whose clientele matches your collection -- I had good luck selling my 70's progressive, new wave, and early punk lp's to a shop in a college town. If you're near Austin, there should be a few options even for plays and speeches.

Email your inventory (pictures of handwritten inventory is fine), say your father kept them in pristine condition. Don't expect more than a dollar per record. Good luck!
