What are you willing to change?

Simple low cost change -- this is rather sloppy but shows taking in part of the porch to create an entry.

Move the gable right and make it smaller so it's just over the door.

I'd rethink the kitchen too. Sink is too far from everything.

I like ppf's change. add a prep sink in the island and that will solve the sink issue.

When you remove a glass from the dishwasher, how far will you have to walk to put it away?

Nice, PPF. The master bedroom is no longer an afterthought squeezed between the kitchen and laundry and garage, the kitchen isn’t the traffic hub, and the front door is a proper entry.

if you go with ppf's change, you could side load a one stall garage (keeping the 2 stall face forward) and not change your footprint to much. this has the added bonus of making the garage not front and center.

I agree the kitchen needs a prep sink on the island. Expanding on PPF's changes:

Custom home or a Tract/Developer Home? Choosing materials for bidding how? Where are you choosing these materials?

millworkman, custom home. Choosing materials at the building supply company- just going over general materials for the builder to be able to give an estimate on cost.

so the master bedroom location is there to essentially be as far away from the living area/ other bedrooms. We have 3 very young children and the husband works 3rd shift. We'll be in the country, and wanted to have the mudroom/powder room as close to the backyard access as possible.

Do you have to have a 3-car snout garage which dominates the front elevation of the house? Can you detach the garage and connect to house with a breezeway? Can you rotate the garage and make it side loading or courtyard entry?

Side loading:

or

Courtyard entry:

the slope of the land makes it most cost effective to have the garage placement on the front left part of the house
