Which Sofa Would You Choose?

Looking for some design advice! Debating between the following sofas for a 1 bedroom city apartment. We are a couple, late 20s, with no kids or pets. The sofa would be 85" (similar in size to the existing sofa in the photo) in one of the gray upholstery options. Having trouble deciding which is better looking, aesthetically and more functional.

Which would you choose and why?

Maiden Home Sullivan

Maiden Home Warren

IMO I think the Warren would hold up best. The pillow backs tend to start sagging after awhile so the least amount of them you have might be better in the long run. Although I'm not familiar with that brand, might not be an issue at all with them. Another thought is, if you happen to get a stain that won't come out you have more flip options with two cushions rather than one big cushion. But, mainly I like the warren because it looks more sleek and modern. I think the flared sides on the Sullivan look more traditional. So, depending on your style, could be something to think about. Both are nice though! :)

Thanks!! Do you happen to own a Warren? Or other MH sofa? My ideal is a 3 seat and I’m a little worried about the 2 seat style being awkward if there are ever guests. The bench seems more practical from that standpoint...but at the same time, I’m worried the cushion will quickly become uneven/lopsided.

I don't have one - One of my clients has a Dune and is very happy with it. Three seaters are hard to find as they can be considered an older style. I rarely have 3 people on a sofa as they usually don't want to be on top of each other. I've had 2 cushions and 1 cushion and never had a problem with either one, but they haven't been Maiden Home.

I vote for the Warren too. I’m slightly biased because my couch is the same look/style. But there‘s something about the lack of symmetry with the Sullivan that doesn‘t work for me (3 back pillows & one long seat).

For me, depends on style you want. The second one is more modern to me (reminds me of room & board or rh modern styles). The first one has a bit more design to me (something you might find at mgbw). I like both, but I would choose based on the style of your space.

@Design Girl do you have any experience with C&B? It's a little less expensive (especially with the upcoming upholstery sale in August) and I know the quality isn't as good as MH, on paper at least. I was considering the Gather Petite sofa...but not 100% sold.

C&B imo is no where close to MH in quality. C&B is not a bad product but my daughter has one and it's not holding up that well. She got if for free so she took it. MH is a much better sofa for the money.

That's what I was thinking as well. Even with a discount at C&B, I feel like the jump in quality justifies the higher price. Thanks for validating my gut feeling!

@bstol @Design Girl I'm debating between these two brands as well. The upcoming C&B is 15% off, which would put me around 3k for the Lounge II sectional/chaise after delivery and tax. I found it very comfortable (Petitie version). It is also kiln dried solid wood, made in the USA.

I'm considering Maiden Home and I'm totally confident in the quality based on everyone's feedback, but I'm afraid it won't be as soft and comfortable as the Lounge from C&B. Can anyone vouch for the comfort/softness level of The Warren/The Dune or Sullivan? I read a blog post saying the Dune was not that comfortable, and it's supposed to be their most soft/deep sofa. A bit risky with the 10% restocking fee at MH.

Honestly I would stay away from Lounge II. Look further into construction details and you’ll find that it is flexolator suspension (lowest quality). Agree it is extremely comfortable in stores...but give it a year and it will be saggy and look very worn in. My two cents.

Mark - any idea when the C&B sale is starting this month? I thought it was 20% off last year but could be mistaken. Will be slightly disappointed if it is only 15%!

Mark - we have the Dune and I would say its incredibly comfortable, recognize comfort is a personal thing and different for everyone but I'd be hard pressed to find a guest of ours who hasn't found the Dune comfortable - we wanted a sink in cushiony feel without totally bottoming out (like the RH cloud) while also being easy to maintain ... feel like thats exactly what we got!

@mmydesign I am considering the Dune sofa as well. Would you please let me know what depth did you pick and what fabric/color? Thank you so much for your help.

The Warren would be my choice. Sophisticated and jazzy plus you can't go wrong with a shade of gray. The Sullivan is just lacking in design.

The Dune is super comfortable. Fabric choice is up to your own design style and which way you want your colors to go. I always recommend a performance fabric for heavy use areas.
