Nice flowers! Technically speaking "petioles" are the leaf stems, not the flower stems.

Thanks for the pic of Island Breeze. I lost mine, but your photo reminded me how colorful it was. The green on the leaves was dramatic, and then those strong purple flowers appeared in technicolor! A real beauty.

Thanks Babka........duh!! I know that but got confused .Then the flower stems are just called stems, or brachs .......omg, I get all the terms mixed up. I will have to do a refresher course!

I am not a fan of the flowers but the bees and humming birds sure are so mine stay for them. This morning I watched three humming birds fighting over one flower stem from the orange marmalade. Wonder if they were having it on toast? Such little sweethearts

I watched that one big bee first move up the outside of the flower and make a movement that seemed pollen gathering, and then move to the outside of another flower doing the same thing. Then it finally crawled in the flower. It seemed it was getting more pollen from the outside of the flower. Interesting!!
