I have seen more than the usual number of yellow swallowtails. Some monarchs, too, but not an abundance. Small (? baby) black swallowtails a couple weeks ago but not a lot on the flowers the last week or so - maybe I just haven't noticed, not sure.

It has been the same here in N Texas. Last year my garden was full of butterflies daily but this year I see maybe one a day. I had hoped that it would get better as we approach fall but so far it is not happening.

They are plentiful here. Zinnias, dahlias, agastache, lilies and parsley seem to be favored.

I am in the same area as tsugajunkie and was going to say the same. I really haven’t ever had Monarchs before, but this year I see a couple daily on the coneflowers. I also have seen Red Admirals ( not as many as last year. But I only have a small yard in the city. I am happy to see them in any numbers at all!! :-)

perhaps our cold, wet spring had something to do with it. We have fewer swallows this year and they arrived much later...glad others have normal sightings.

There are no "baby" butterflies, just adult butterflies that vary in size by species.

Of course there are baby butterflies!! They are just called caterpillars :-))
