How many worms did you start with? Just wondering why you didn't choose a dark coloured bin. Is there any shade anywhere outdoors? With adequate moisture, not too much new feed, damp shredded newspaper on top my worms survived temp. between 30C to 35C. You could also freeze water in a plastic bottle or even ziploc bag. Once frozen, wrap newspaper or cloth/towel around it (worms will stick to frozen surface just like your finger does) and place in the bin to reduce the temp. Check the weather forecast and if the day is going to be hot, place the frozen bag in the bin before you leave for work. Oh, before you freeze it, make sure it doesn't leak. Don't want to flood the bin. In addition you also could use a desk fan blowing over the top of the bin. Place a wet old towel/t-shirt over the damp shredded newspaper. Because of the fan, moisture from the towel/t-shirt will evaporate and this will reduce (some) the heat underneath it. But please note, until you have experimented with it to see how dry it will get after running the fan, don't leave the fan running while you're away all day. I usually do this overnight if my bin overheated because of overfeeding. I also have a light over it to force them to stay down. I know, it's cruel but I don't want find them to dry on the floor the next morning.

So we continued with the clear bin for a while and I noticed that my big crawlers were missing. Apparently one of the seams where I had glued the screen at the bottom had a tiny hole and they went through and got trapped and many died. @11otis we had a clear bin originally so we could potentially see the worms but they are too good at hiding. I am now moving on to a bigger black bin in hopes they will be happier. I did have many babies from the red wrigglers so I feel like my other issues are pretty standard.
