Btw, those aren't species Rosie, those are varieties of the hybrids. Species are naturally occurring and collected from nature.

Most of the species are easy to grow, just reduce light if artificial and use less fertilizer and you will be successful. Are you wanting to grow something small, then consider Saintpsulia shumensis. If you like large plants, the S. Robertson clone is big, as well and grandifolia and orbicularis. If you prefer trailers there are many from which to choose.

I have grown and do grow several species. Most are easy growing. For lots of flowers try rupicolus Cha Simba, Grandifolius 237, and confusus Mather E. These can grow rather large. For interesting leaves & flowers, grow brevipilosus Mather #10, Sigi Falls, and velutina. Some species grow best multi crowned and others single. Species can be addictive! You may end up adding more of them to your collection.

They came today. I think all but LE Carousel and magungensis had visible buds, and diplotricha will grace me with open blooms I'd judge in about two weeks.

I think I was surprised at the amount of variegation on Combustible Pigeon, and typically realize how poorly they tend to do in windowsills...we shall see I guess.

You can green up Rob’s CP or other variegated Violet with Epsom salts (1/4 tsp per gallon) and alternating waterings with a balanced fertilizer. Diplotricha is fun to grow.
