Squirrel Fertilized Tomatoes

I had squirrels eat many of my tomatoes. This seasons, in an area that I know the squirrels live and hang out, I have found about 5 tomato plants pop up, yielding alot of plump, colorful tomatoes. My question is, are they safe to eat? Do I have to worry about rabies? I live in San Diego, CA.
