Endless summer cutting. Already trying to bloom

I made a cutting off the mother plant around 10 weeks ago. kept it inside for about 4 weeks. It rooted good so moved it outside for a week or 2. Some leaves browned but also got new growth so planted it in the ground. Its been in the ground for about 4 weeks now.

This cutting is about 4 weeks old(been inside under indirect sunlight with a top over it). Look at the roots forming

@ Tina Do. I did use rooting hormone called hormodin. I really think you could use honey with hydrangeas or probaly nothing, they seemed really easily to root. I think I had 100 % that rooted( I did 15 cuttings). You will know when they are ready for outside if you can pull on them and they feel connected to the cup. If the cutting moves without the container it means its not ready.I think 3-4 weeks inside you should start feeling them ready for outside. The hard part is when you take them outside. Its hard to avoid wilting and leafs turning brown. Once you starting seeing new growth after moving outside put them in the ground. You really have to stay on top of the watering when you do this. I did around 15 cuttings and have about 12 in the ground. 2-3 almost almost died when transferred to the ground, now these are putting out new shoots. But they are small plants. My first freeze is still 8 weeks away here so hopefully they will all make it through winter here.

This was my first time doing this. I seen another obstacle is winter but we have very mild winters here so think they all should make it. I still have 8 weeks here before our first frost.

Wow! Great job! I'm just starting to get into propagating hydrangeas from cuttings and have some Annabelle and Nikko blue cuttings going for a week now. Did you use rooting hormone? How long do you think it took for your cuttings to root?

Oh, wow. Very nice and floriferous. Did you not panic when you took it outside and it got browning of the leaves though? How did you handle that emergency?

a little, but I just moved them to a more shady location and that seemed to help. I find that putting them in a area where you go to everyday helps. I had these in front of my garage which gets a good mixture of sun and shade and plus its easy to water. I was shopping for some type of shade cloth but it just slipped my mind since the plants all rebounded fine.

@Randy Man it's very encouraging to see your rate of success with this first-time propagation. Indeed, winter will be a key milestone. What motivated you to put them into the ground this season vs keeping them in the pot for longer and wait for next season to put them in the ground? I like your advice about placing them where you will frequently go to everyday.

Tina Do, The main deciding factor was the mild winters we have here and also the area I am putting them in is really rich soil. I have a variety of other perennials that is thriving on this hill. Since you are asian I bet you will recognize this plant. Its on the hill I planted these hydrangeas.
