A better ventilation system, with higher CFM, better capture area, and a larger duct to the exterior is the ONLY solution to cooking smells and cooking grease that escapes the current vent to live in your home.. You can do stir fry with 1000 chillies and still not have your eyes burn, IF you have proper ventilation.

i think it's more to do with the food after it's cooked rather the during cooking -- aromas that escape while food is on the table and such.

I don’t have the exact recipe, but you can look up what to boil. I remember I use cloves, maybe vinegar? Boil for 30 minutes and it gets rid of fish smells.

+1 on ProSource Memphis's response, above. I see you're concerned about the odors after you're done cooking, and proper ventilation can take care of those as well - IF you're eating in your kitchen.

There is a formula for the size of the vent and how far it is from the cooking source and what size...CFM... fan you will need to be most efficient. I am guessing you need a more powerful fan....and run it for a while after you finish cooking.
