Closet Door Replacement-Floor to Ceiling

We are getting ready to refresh our upstairs bedrooms, which includes replacing the sliding closet doors. The doors run from the floor to the ceiling with no wall space above and butt up against an adjoining wall (pics attached). The opening width of each closet is small, only about 56". Because of the location of the closets, we are going to replace with sliding doors as a regular doors or bi-fold doors will not be convenient opening up to the room.

Our issue is deciding whether to keep the closet doors as floor to ceiling or add wall space above to make them a normal size and give the room a more updated look. At first we thought adding wall space above might open up the room (both are small, about 10' x 11" each), but now we are not so sure and we don't want to spend money unnecessarily. By adding wall space above, it would allow us to get paneled doors to match the bedroom doors which will be replaced. We figure two panel sliding doors might look odd going floor to ceiling, but we are not opposed to keeping the doors flush either

What do you all think? Keep it the same and just replace with flush sliding doors? Get paneled doors that will match the bedroom door even though it will be tall? Or spend the money and add the wall space above?

Thanks!
