I'm making plans to hardscape my backyard and love the idea of adding a shallow reflecting pool because I find water to be so calming and think I'd really enjoy being able to look out on it every day (I'd actually like the reflecting pool to account for the majority of my backyard, with the rest being concrete patio and woodsy perimeter with trees). But I'm worried about maintenance (costs and time) and attracting mosquitos and snakes (I live in Denver, where there are garters and bull snakes). Do any of you regret putting in a reflecting pool? What would you caution me about? Can you give me an idea of upkeep time and costs?
