Huge Empty Wall

Help! I'm at a loss as to what to put on the wall behind our table. The area is adjacent to the kitchen, which has white cabinets, white veined quartz, and black and dark grey accents. I would like to bring some black into the area to tie into the kitchen accents. I like the idea of floating shelves but think they would have to be quite large to accommodate the wall. There's also the issue of someone standing up and hitting a shelf. Any ideas?

Do you have room for a buffet? It's difficult to tell from the picture. It could be one like a china cabinet on top for display or a console type with art hanging above. A lamp or two with some decor on top.

If no room, do you need all those places at the table every day? Can the table be made smaller and some chairs removed to give you room for a buffet, then set up as it is for larger gatherings - even if you have to set it up not centered under the light for those occasions.

It looks as if you have room for the table to move away from the wall, but it may involve changing or moving your light fixture so it's centered over the table.

No mirror. Nobody wants to watch themselves eating. And the mirror wouldn't be reflecting anything great like an outdoor view. The art examples above are the right size.

Ikea has large art, very reasonably priced, that you could use until you find the perfect piece.

Is this a formal fining room or a kitchen eating area? From your description and based on the photo it looks like a kitchen eating area. In that case I wouldnt go too formal in the space. You mentioned black, but what is the style of the rest of the home? what colors are a constant ? I am guessing the photo is being taken from the family room? What is in that space? Can you share photos of the rooms (kitchen, family room etc) that are off of this space?

I’d keep it light and casual with a long and narrow console and interesting black framed pictures

Would also suggest replacing chandelier and be sure to hang lower

Thank you for the advice!! Yes, I should have mentioned that I will definitely be replacing the chandelier. The one in place belonged to the previous owner; we just moved in 2 months ago. I basically have to replace all the light fixtures in the house. They definitely aren't my style.
