    Thank you cyn427 and karin_mt.

As I am sure you recall, when this plant has a good year I will post pictures of it.

What has been odd this year is that it was way behind in terms of the onset of flowers....maybe close to 2 weeks late...not sure why.

Rouge, I drool every season you show us Splendide! I still can’t find this one at local nurseries, bummer.

It has been my experience (and yours it seems) that this particular thalictrum isn't readily available for purchase. And yet it is quite hardy, pest free and pretty when in bloom.

and maybe next year, or the one after, I will have some gorgeousness of my own

    roxanna you will, you will!

Given that you purchased several SPLENDIDES this season I am curious as to the locations in your garden that you put them with regards to light/moisture etc.

Love it with the phlox! Beautiful combo.

    For sure thanks GH.

(I have had that Shockwave Phlox in that location for many years but this season is the best it has performed in a long time ie upright and with large blossoms.)

So nice! How tall did it get this year? It looks a good six or seven feet!

Mine rejected the heat and drought of July and died back completely but I think it will return next year. I was surprised to notice a blooming seedling nearby which was stunted down to about 1 foot tall, but I guess I should be happy to have that at least. Sadly before things got dry I was hoping for a nice sized patch of seedlings to all be in bloom alongside mom. Maybe next year.

Actually to be honest I think mine is T. rochebrunianum. I think it's of similar height but maybe less dense blooms?

You are correct katob ie 6 feet including flowers. (It is definitely shorter than I have seen in other years ie often 7 feet.)

    At its most floriferous today:

Rouge, I am so jealous (as usual in the most friendly way ;-) ). That Splendide is just gorgeous. It is on my list of plants I would love to grow but can't. I had a few rochebrunianum from Lost Horizons, and they just petered out. They didn't quite die, but they were so wimpy that after a few years I spade pruned them. Years ago I grew them from seed, same story. Th. flavum glaucum and delavayi same story too. So I guess I admire your Splendide from afar, and you admire my Begonia grandis.

    Always kind gdinie :)

and you admire my Begonia grandis.

I confess I am jealous of your gardening skills, able with ease to have BG come back year after year.

Did I tell you I was at LH about 3 weeks ago and they had several healthy potted specimens of BG for sale. I guess I am maturing as I know my limitations....no purchase made!

“I confess I am jealous of your gardening skills, able with ease to have BG come back year after year.”

Substitute “Splendide” for “BG” and you have my reaction.

If ever you want to try again with BG, don’t buy them, ask me. I have small ones, I am trying for a little patch.
