Fiddle Leaf Fig help!

last modified: 6 years ago

I bought my Fiddle Leaf Fig just three weeks ago from a florist. I noticed a few brown spots on the bottom leaves, but was assured these were normal and that the new growth was healthy. The florist potted my plant into a ceramic pot with some rocks on the bottom to prevent root rot.

I knew absolutely nothing about caring for my plant until I got home and started researching. I watered it once a week (twice in total), gently wiped the leaves and misted daily.

Almost all the leaves have tiny brown spots on them now. Some of the leaves towards the middle and bottom have larger brown dried holes and cracks. It seems like some of the roots are visible too! What’s going on with my plant? I called the florist about this and she insists that it’s healthy and will do well in the ceramic pot that has no drainage holes because they put rocks at the bottom. HELP!!
