With a multi-tap transformer you have voltage ranges from 11-14 volts. Depending on the distance of the wire runs from the transformer, you might need to use 14 volts coming out of the transformer to power fixtures that are going to be furthest from the transformer. Low voltage wire loses power as you increase the distance the wire travels and when you add load (fixtures). LED fixtures work best when they have between 10-15 volts at the fixture. If you were to run wire from your house to the very back of your property and then perhaps run it up some trees to provide down lights, you could be looking at considerable distances. The plain transformers that are sold at the big box stores have @ 12 volts coming out of one tap and you can quickly find you don't have enough voltage on long runs or when you add multiple fixtures. FX transformers also come with thermal breakers. If the transformer gets too hot, the breaker will trip, shutting off the power. I have replaced more than one basic transformer that was melted because there was an overload on the wire.

This answer may be a little late for you, but they look like the leaves on my plants after I had put them outside for too long a time without hardening them off frst. If you grow seedlings under lights, you need to get them accustomed to sunlight by leaving them outside only briefly (say 1/2 hour) on the first day, and add a few more minutes every day after that. The rest of the time put them in shade. Or put them in the sun early in the morning and take them out of it until late in the day, when the sun isn't strong. If you go to work, you could put them where the house or a tree will shade them for most of the day, but the shadow moves away for part of the day.

Jennifer, I totally understand winter being a dilemma. The pine cones suggested and maybe some grapevine orbs could work. Do you have access to any type of fresh greenery you could replace when it starts to look tired? Check Michael's for some type of faux berries to include for some color. They have a good selection of various colors...white, red, green, burgundy, orange. I'm normally not a fan of faux plants, but I do have a couple of boxwood balls someone gave me that actually look more real. They don't have the plastic, shiny or overly bright green appearance you often see. They look like the real boxwood hedges we have growing.
