Also, It's about 5 ft high and looks very similar to Monkey flower but the leaves are larger in scale and I believe it is taller than monkey flower. But maybe its some special variety of monkey flower?

If it flowers with red blooms, then not Carpenteria. That comes in white only. Leaves look similar but habit of plant in photo looks too uniform and upright for what is usually a rather sprawly, irregular, multi-branched shrub.

OP unsure of plant color and Capenteria can look exactly like that when young. I had a group of 'Elizabeth' at one point and I got rid of them as I didn't like the marcescence.

One thing that is for sure it that it shouldn't be wilted like that.

That's kinda what they look like. They are glorious for the fleeting days that they are in bloom, and the rest of the time look like sad sacks. Not a great garden plant unless you can hide it.

Do the leaves and the flowers look like this? Chilopsis linearis. I can't remember if this is the Burgundy variety or the Bubba variety.
