Our intros for 2021

Mantis asked about our intros for 2021. I tried to post them in my last post and Houzz wouldn't let me so I'll just start a new thread.

The one being lined out in the picture in my previous post is Empire of Dawn and Dusk X Ruby Lipstick. That's the one I have posted so often (and I bet you got sick of looking at). We have a name picked out and the stats gathered. It will be very limited though. It does not appear to be a super fast increaser, but we have split it and moved it several times. It makes a nice clump, though, and seems to bloom a long time because it has good scape to fan ratio (we had six fans with six scapes in the clump we have in the front garden) and has instant rebloom. It will set pods and its pollen is good. We have lots of seedling babies with it as pollen parent.



We have two orange daylilies for next year. The first is Ashwood Inferno X Horns. This one is tall with really bright flowers.


The next orange is Sea of Cinders X Horns.


This one has been hanging around the garden for several years. It is Ebony Jewel X Barracuda Bay. It's not fancy but it has good scapes and increases well. The color seems pretty sunfast too.



The last two are the firsts in a series of tall and small daylilies. The flowers on both measure about 4 inches, but the scapes are 38 inches for the first one and 29 inches for the second.

It's really hard to get a good picture for this first one. It's a violet purple with a black velvety overlay in the eye area and around the edges of the petals. I just can't get the correct color. This is the best photo I have. It is Little Red Bantam X Pinewood Light in the Darkness.



The second one is Little Red Bantam X Lady Stephanie Victoria Redding. I really like the color on this one. There is no orange undertones here--more of a cherry red.
