Please help me with this space!

Ok, the area in front of this built in bookcase has been torturing me for years, it's time to commit to a design. As you can see, it's at the front of the house, the second photo shows you the view if you walked into the house and looked left, living room is opposite bookcase (you can see the corner of the couch) and the room with drums and my daughter is the play area (someday may be formal dining room or den closed off with maybe wood or glass sliding doors).

I vacillate between a few ideas and would love votes (also open to different ideas)! In no particular order, #1) Two upholstered wing chairs framing a round accent table (think smallish dining height with a vase of flowers, a candle, a book suggesting its a place to sit and read) with area rug (every option will have area rug). #2) upholstered arm chairs, either facing forward parallel to each other (or swivel chairs?) with low accent table between them with table lamp. #3) settee or chaise lounge with floor lamp and tiny table in front of settee or chaise off to one side.

All options would hide the hideous air conditioning return. All allow a nice place to sit and read. I need the area to stay somewhat close to the bookcase as there needs to be room to walk through.

Thank you SO much for any advice you'd like to share!
